In a significant crackdown against an unauthorised construction in the city, the Municipal Town Planning (MTP) Department of the Amritsar Municipal Corporation launched a major enforcement drive here on Thursday. Acting on the instructions of MC Commissioner Gulpreet Singh Aulakh, the department took a decisive action and demolished an illegal structure being erected in front of Alexandra School on Queens Road. The site was also sealed to prevent any further activity.
The operation was led by Assistant Town Planner (ATP) Parminderjeet Singh and Building Inspector Munish Arora along with a dedicated team of municipal staff. This marks a strong stance by the civic body against the violation of the building norms and unapproved constructions, which have increasingly become a concern in several areas of the city.
MC Commissioner Gulpreet Singh Aulakh said the municipal corporation is committed to curbing the menace of illegal constructions and is taking all necessary steps to ensure compliance with urban development laws. He emphasized that the MTP Department has been instructed to serve formal notices to all violators and to follow up with strict action in case of non-compliance.
