Mumbai Sikh Sangat extends help to flood-hit families

This humanitarian effort was carried out jointly by all the Sangats of Mumbai, including the Maharashtra Sikh Association, Bombay Motor Transport Operators Federation, Bombay Transport Cooperative Consumers’ Society, Supreme Council of Navi Mumbai Gurdwara, Gurdwara Guru Teg Bahadur Darbar Rawli Camp, Lions Club of Bombay West Coast and Jat Samaj Akal Jyot Sevak Sanstha, under the project ‘Rahat Team’.

As part of the initiative, 700 acres’ worth of seeds and fertilisers, around 12,500 litres of diesel, 1,500 quintals (18 truckloads) of animal fodder, 500 kits containing blankets, sheets, lois and shawls, 200 sets of utensils, 500 mattresses and clothing for 300 families have been sent for the victims.
The Sikh community of Mumbai, alongside Hindu and Muslim communities, contributed generously to these relief works for the welfare of both people and animals.
Baba Sewa Singh, patron of the Khadoor Sahib sect, highly appreciated the services of the Mumbai Sangat representatives — Daljit Singh Bal, Malkit Singh Bal, Harwant Singh Grewal, Suresh Kosla, Surinder Kosla, Gurdial Singh Bal, Gurdial Singh Mata, Manmeet Kaur Chadha, Bibi Mann Advocate and Sahib Singh Kular.
The relief material was dispatched to the affected areas after ardas was performed on Wednesday.
