Amritsar: A grand programme of 98th ‘Rafi, Lata and Asha nite-golden era music’ was organised by Bhavan’s Kala Kendra. On the occasion, Ravi Raguvanshi, a TV artist, and Dr Arvinder kaur, a dental surgeon and a singer, filled the atmosphere with melody by singing heart touching songs in melodious voices. Dr PS Grover graced the programme as the chief guest and Anil Singhal was the guest of honour. The programme began with lighting of the lamp ceremony.

Mtech courses at GNDU

Guru Ramdas School of Planning, Guru Nanak Dev University, offers M.Tech (Transport Planning) and M.Tech (Urban & Regional Planning) five year intergrated programme. A few seats are lying vacant in the above mentioned professional courses for the academic session 2024-25. Prof Ashwani Luthra, Head of the Department, said the candidates willing to take admission against these vacant seats need to visit www.gnduadmissions.org. Eligibility for admission to PG programme M.Tech. (Transport Planning) is Bachelor’s Degree in Urban and Regional Planning/Architecture/Civil Engineering with at least 50 percent marks (45 per cent for SC) in aggregate or Master’s Degree in Geography/Sociology/Economics with at least 50 per cent marks (45 per cent for SC) in aggregate or any other examination recognised equivalent thereto.

VAN MAHOTSAV organised

A tree plantation drive was organised at Police DAV Public School under the guidance of Principal Rashmi Vij. Supervisor Cinny Malhotra graced the occasion. As many as 275 saplings were planted by the students and incharges of Eco Club, NCC, NSS, Bharat Scouts and Guides Units of the school, in and around the campus. These include Indian Rosewood, Indian Lilac, Wood Apple, Gulmohar and China Rose.

Saloni achieves distinction

Students of DAV College excelled in the BSc (Economics) Semester VI exam results declared by Guru Nanak Dev University. Saloni Kamboj scored 1,809 marks out of 2,400 (75.37%) and achieved a distinction. Suzal Singh scored 1,806 marks and also achieved a distinction. Principal Rajesh Kumar, Suresh Kumar Khurana, Head, PG Department of Economics, and other faculty members congratulated both students on their achievements. The principal said that various scholarship schemes, such as the Daulat Ram Durga Devi Economics Scholarship and the Prof. Gulshan Kumar Economics Scholarship, are available to support meritorious and needy students on the campus.

LLM Joint Entrance result uploaded

The Department of Laws, Guru Nanak Dev University, uploaded the results and schedule of LLM Joint Entrance Test. Dr Bimaldeep Singh, head of the department, said physical counselling for LLM will be held for two days starting from July 25 at GNDU, main campus and regional campus, Jalandhar. The students will have to report at their respective campuses with their original documents and two sets of photostat documents along with the proof of having appeared in LLM joint entrance test 2024. As per the first counselling, 55 seats are filled (for Punjab quota: 32 General, 12 Scheduled Castes, three backward class, one PwD; and for outside Punjab quota,: three general, 3 Scheduled Caste, one backward class). The second round of counselling is scheduled as per the details given on punjablawadmissions.gndu.ac.in.
