Nepali teenager held for murder of destitute

A destitute living under the BRTS flyover on the Batala road was bludgeoned to death by a teenage Nepal migrant here last midnight. The incident came to light in the morning when onlookers found old man’s body lying in a pool of blood. Within hours, the police identified the suspect and arrested him.
Vinod Sharma, Station House Officer (SHO), Sadar police station, said the suspect was a minor. He said the 15-year-old boy killed the beggar living under pillar number 18 of the Bus Rapid Transit System (BRTS) flyover. The deceased was called Baba by the people living in the vicinity.
“Baba had been living under pillar number 18 for the past several years. In the morning, some people found him dead. He was apparently beaten brutally and his private organ was chopped,” the SHO said.
On getting information, police teams swung into action. After scanning the footage of the CCTV cameras installed in the area, the police arrested the suspect. The suspect originally hailed from Nepal and was currently living with his uncle here.
Investigation revealed that Baba and the suspect had consumed drugs together after which they entered into quarrel. In a fit of rage, the suspect brutally beat Baba with a hockey stick and chopped his private organ. A probe had been initiated into the matter, the police said.
