Notorious snatcher nabbed

A team of personnel from the C-Division police station succeeded in apprehending a notorious snatcher, who has a long criminal history. The accused, identified as Kawaljeet Singh, alias Nikku, a resident of Shaheed Udham Singh Nagar, was arrested following an investigation into a recent snatching, in which the accused injured a woman while snatching her earrings.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Law and Order) Alam Vijay Singh said the police recovered a scooter used in the crime. A case had been registered on the complaint of a woman, Manjit Kaur, who reported that while walking from Katra Karam Singh towards Circular Road, two men snatched her gold earrings and fled. Following this, a case was registered under Sections 304(2) and 111 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita at C-Division police station, Amritsar. The police managed to locate and apprehend the accused on April 14. According to police records, Nikku is a habitual offender.
