An NRI woman and her alleged lover were among five persons booked by the Jandiala police on charges of attempt to murder, criminal conspiracy and rioting, besides the Arms Act after they allegedly fired outside the house of her in-laws in Bandala village.
Among those booked were identified as Lovedeep Singh, a resident of Kohalia village in Gurdaspur, Karambir Kaur, a resident of Bandala village, Heera Singh, a resident of Bandala.
Father-in-law of Karambir Kaur in his complaint to the police alleged that his son Manpreet Singh got married to Karambir around five years ago. He said both of them lived in England. He said the couple had returned to Punjab recently.
He alleged that Karambir had an illicit relation with Lovedeep Singh and they came to know about this recently. He said they left Karambir at her parents’ home at Chhiddan village. Infuriated over this, she, along with Lovedeep Singh and their unknown accomplices, came outside their house and indulged in firing, besides damaging the doors.
The police said a case had been registered in this regard. Further probe was initiated into the matter, the police added.
