One arrested for abducting teen

The accused involved in the crime has been identified as Vicki of the same village. While being abducted, the girl took away gold ornaments weighing two and a half tolas and Rs 8,000 cash from her home. The victim’s parents had gone to the fields for labour and when they returned home they found that their daughter was not present at home. The family reported the matter to the police. A case under Sections 363,366 and 366-A of the IPC has been registered against the accused. OC
Retd teacher awaits his dues
Tarn Taran: Parwinder Singh, who retired as a teacher from Government High School, Kot Mohammad Khan (Tarn Taran) recently, has been moving from pillar to post for the last nine years to get his three-month salary, which was stopped by the Education Department . Parwinder said here on Wednesday that he had submitted a number of representatives to the authorities concerned in the last nine years — from grassroots-level official to the Secretary (Education) — but no official has, so far, even bothered about citing the reason behind stopping his salary. He said his salary was stopped when he was transferred on administrative grounds in 2013. In a letter written to Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, Parwinder appealed to the CM to get the matter probed and take serious action against the officials concerned not responding to his representations. Water harvesting system at school
Amritsar: Akal Purak Ki Fauj, a religious organization, on Wednesday installed a water harvesting system at a school being run by it in Kalha village of Tarn Taran district. Organisation’s patron Jaswinder Singh said water harvesting was the need of the hour and people should install water harvesting systems at their commercial and residential properties. Principal Kulwinder Singh said Sikhs organise chabeels during summer months and it is the need of the hour that they start preserving and helping in recharging groundwater. He said people should also stop wasting water and help in saving the Earth. TNS
SGPC panel to meet Lalpura
Amritsar: The SGPC has constituted a panel that would have an appointment with National Commission for Minorities chairman Iqbal Singh Lalpura at New Delhi on Thursday, to discuss the problems being faced by the Sikh community. The delegation comprised of SGPC general secretary Karnail Singh Panjoli, executive member Sarvan Singh Kular, members Satwinder Singh Tohra and Gurcharan Singh Grewal along with a representative of the Dharam Prachar Committee. SGPC media assistant secretary Kulwinder Singh said the delegation would hold a meeting on June 16 to converse over certain pending issues that remained unresolved,” he said.
