One held with opium, narcotic powder in Amritsar

The counter intelligence (CI) wing of the Amritsar police have seized 1 kg of opium, 3 kg of narcotic powder and arrested one person in this connection. The arrested accused was identified as Neeraj Masih, a resident of Issa Nagar in Batala, who was presently residing at Esma Colony, located on Ram Tirath Road here. The police also impounded his white Hyundai Verna car (bearing registration number Punjab-35-V-0900) used by him for transporting drugs.

A case under the NDPS Act was registered with the state special operation cell police station here and further probe initiated into the matter to trace backward and forward links of the accused.

In another incident, the Border Security Force (BSF) seized a packet of heroin and a drone from agricultural fields at Tibbi and Dhanoe Kalan villages, respectively. The BSF authorities informed that a packet containing 545 grams of heroin wrapped in a yellow colour adhesive tape was recovered from Tibbi village.

The authorities said a DJI Mavic 3 Classic drone was recovered from a farming field at Dhanoe Kalan village. It crashed on the land because of technical interference created through counter measures deployed by the BSF at the international border, the authorities said. The BSF lodged separate complaints with the Amritsar (Rural) police for further necessary action in this connection.
