Under its drive ‘NCC for Statues – One Unit One Statue’, the Punjab unit of National Cadet Core on Friday adopted the statue of legendary Sikh ruler Maharaja Ranjit Singh situated at historic Ram Bagh garden also known as ‘Company Bagh’ here for its maintenance and cleanliness.

Commanding Officer Ratnakar Trivedi inaugurated the programme in which cadets of 11 Punjab battalion, two Punjab Naval and two Punjab Air participated.

Captain Raj Kumar Mishra of 11 Punjab Battalion said from now onwards, the NCC cadets of 11 Punjab Battalion would upkeep and maintain cleanliness of the statute and its surroundings. The cadets of different units recited poems highlighting the life and achievements of legendary Sikh ruler.

Rich floral tributes were also paid to Maharaja Ranjit Singh to mark the occasion. The cadets, laudably, cleaned the statue and its surroundings.
