Over 10 booked for thrashing man

Amritsar: A local resident was allegedly thrashed and robbed by around 10 persons near Fatahpur area when he was out to look for his relative, who had gone missing for the past two days. An old enmity is stated to be the reason behind the incident. No arrest has been made till now. The victim, identified as Gurwinder Singh, alias Ginny, stated to the police that he, along with his nephew, was looking for his lost brother Nishan Singh, who was a drug addict. He said when they reached near Fatahpur, the accused, led by Dharam Singh, alias Dhanna, surrounded and attacked him. He alleged that they hit him with brick and blunt weapons, while pointing a pistol-like thing at him. He said they snatched his gold chain, a kara and his mobile. Later, he was admitted to the Civil Hospital for treatment. Besides Dhanna, others who were booked by the police include his wife Paramjit Kaur, Heera Singh, Shamsher Singh of Baage Suneyara village, Akash and Gopi of Fatahpur and Akash of Kuri village. — TNS
