BSF troops on duty observed the suspicious movement of a Pakistani intruder who surreptitiously crossed the international border (IB) in the wee hours today and attempted to approach the border fence under the cover of fog in village Kotrazda of Amritsar district.

Alert BSF troops immediately challenged the intruder, but he ignored their warnings and continued advancing towards the border fence.

Despite repeated warnings, the intruder persisted in his approach. Sensing a potential threat to life and security, the troops on duty were compelled to open fire, neutralising the intruder on the spot.

A subsequent search of the area resulted in the recovery of Rs 400 in Pakistani currency, a matchbox, a packet of tobacco and a small bag near the intruder’s body. The intruder’s body has been handed over to Ramdas police for further investigation and necessary action.

Meanwhile, in a separate incident, BSF troops recovered a drone along with a packet of suspected heroin from the border area in Gurdaspur district. At about 10:10 am, BSF troops recovered a DJI Mavic 3 Classic drone along with a packet of suspected heroin (gross weight 546 gram) from a field adjacent to village Didowal in district Gurdaspur.
