'People must donate blood to help save precious lives'

A blood donation camp to mark World Blood Donor Day was organised by Amandeep Hospital here on Tuesday. The event was attended by Kunwar Vijay Pratap Singh, MLA Amritsar North; Surinder Singh, ADC (General); and Harpreet Singh, SDM Amritsar–II. On the occasion, a street play to raise awareness on the issue was staged by Rajinder Singh Raju and his team. Kunwar Vijay Pratap Singh appreciated the efforts of the theatre team for spreading awareness regarding blood donation.
Dr Avtar Singh, Chief Orthopaedic Surgeon at the hospital, said: “If each one of us donates blood, we can help save millions of lives around the world.” He said more people should join blood donation camps as this little gesture can help save a precious life.
A local organisation, Youth for Global Peace and Transformation (YGPT), also organized a blood donation camp and collected 239 units on Tuesday. The YGPT team stated that they had organised 25 camps so far.
