Amritsar, July 24

Staying true to the path shown by its founder Bhagat Puran Singh, the All India Pingalwara Charitable Society would inaugurate a special ward for destitute and homeless patients at Sri Guru Ram Das Hospital at Vallah.

The homeless who do not have an attendant to accompany them during their stay at the hospital often face a difficulty. Astonishingly, there have been instances in which some patients were thrown out from even the government hospitals as there is no system in place to take care of such patients.

While the hospitals have doctors, nurses and other medical professionals, some chores as changing clothes of the patients or taking them to the washroom or feeding them if they are not able to do so are done by the attendants.

However, with homeless patients having no relative or family members to take care of them, even the government hospitals were not ready to take them in case they get injured or sick.

Pingalwara officials stated that volunteers would perform all the tasks for the patients which are generally done by attendants.
