Play ‘Hunn Mein Set Haan’ marks 4th day of National Theatre Festival in Amritsar

The fourth day of the National Theatre Festival organized by Manch Rangmanch at Virsa Vihar presented an anthology of three stories written by eminent playwrights Dr Maninder Singh Kang, Swarajbir and Veena Verma weaved together by Kewal Dhaliwal.

The play “Hunn Mein Set Haan”, presented in a unique style of speech and body gestures, was based on critical and sensitive issues that have echoed over generations of Punjabis. The first story ‘Khushboo’ is written by Dr Swarajbir and highlights the subject of honour killings. It is the story of a father murdering his own daughter for the sake of honour when she decides to marry out of love.

The second story presented was Veena Verma’s ‘Hunn Mein Set Haan’, a term often used by migrating youth flying out of Punjab and settling abroad. Through the story of a young man who goes to study abroad, the issue of migration and exploitation of Punjabi youth is highlighted. The third story is Maninder Kang’s popular work ‘Bhaar’. It is a telling picture of the brutal days of terror. Sajan Kohinoor and Yuvneesh Sharma gave powerful performances in the play. The song and music of the anthology presentation was given by Kushagar Kalia.
