To review the progress of the Amritsar Bulk Water Supply Scheme (ABWSS) initiated by the Punjab Government to ensure continuous supply of clean water to city residents, the Chief Executive Officer of Punjab Municipal Infrastructure Development Company (PMIDC), Deepti Uppal, visited Amritsar today.
At the water treatment plant being constructed near Vallah village under the project, the CEO held a detailed meeting with Municipal Commissioner Gulpreet Singh Aulakh, Additional Commissioner Surinder Singh, North-West India Segment Head of Larsen & Toubro (L&T) Jyotsna Gautam, Amritsar Cluster Head Suresh Sharma, Project Director Sanjay Kumar and Municipal Corporation officials including Jitin Vasudeva (XEN) and project manager Kuldeep Singh Saini (retired Chief Engineer).
During the meeting, the Municipal Commissioner provided an update on the current progress of the project and discussed in detail the reasons behind delay in timely completion of work by the company.
The CEO, along with the MC Commissioner, Additional Commissioner, L&T officials and Municipal Corporation officers, inspected several key project sites. These included the under-construction water treatment plant, the off-take chamber being built on the Upper Bari Doab Canal to supply water to the plant, the overhead water tank being built near the SSP Rural office, and the pipeline laying along Fatehgarh Churian Road, Circular Road and Ranjit Avenue.
