Ajaypal Singh was attacked with sharp-edged weapons by a group of assailants on late Friday evening. According to the complaint filed by the victim’s mother Manjit Kaur, the incident stemmed from a dispute involving Ajaypal’s sister Komalpreet Kaur and her husband Samuel Masih, alias Happy.

Manjit Kaur stated that Samuel had developed illicit relations with a woman, Rupa, who formerly lived in their neighbourhood. Despite objections from his wife, Samuel had been staying at Rupa’s residence for the past two days. On Friday, Manjit Kaur, her son Ajaypal, his wife Komalpreet, her younger daughter and Ajaypal’s friend Sunny, alias Shahana, went to Rupa’s house to confront them.

Inside, Rupa, two Nihang women and Prem Singh, alias Premu Nihang, were present. Prem was allegedly armed with a sword. During the argument, Rupa reportedly called two more Nihang relatives who arrived with swords. The complainant alleged that Rupa asked to attack Ajapal’s family. Premu Nihang and others attacked Ajaypal and inflicted multiple sword blows on his neck, abdomen and arms. He collapsed on the spot and died due to excessive bleeding, while the accused fled with their weapons.

Acting swiftly, police teams traced the accused based on secret inputs. All three were arrested from the Sultanwind area between November 29 and 30. The police said none of the arrested individuals have previous criminal records.
