With the arrested of two drug smugglers, the Punjab Police on Tuesday claimed to have cracked the explosion incident outside Gumtala police post in Amritsar on January 9.

They have been identified as Bagga Singh of Sirsa and Puskaran Singh, alias Sagar, of Amritsar.

While sharing the details on X, DGP Gaurv Yadav said that the two were ground operatives of US based gangster turned terrorist Happy Passia and Sarean Bhola, a notorious drug trafficker who was behind the earlier blasts carried out in Amritsar and Gurdaspur districts.

"They were involved in grenade lobbying on Gumtala Police Post in Amritsar on January 9, 2025," said the DGP.

A hand grenade and two sophisticated pistols were recovered from their possession.
