A police official said that this would mean likely escalation and breakout of bloody gang wars in the coming days. Therefore, all police officials were asked to remain on alert to thwart any law and order problems arising from it.

Harjit Kaur, mother of Bhagwanpuria, and her nephew Karanvir Singh, were gunned down at point-blank range on Thursday night outside their house on the Batala-Qadian road. The CCTV footage of the incident had also gone viral in which two motorcycle-borne assailants were seen shooting at the driver’s seat of the SUV.

The Davinder-Bambiha gang had taken responsibility for the murders on social media while claiming to avenge the killing of their associate Gurpreet Singh alias Gora Bariyar who was shot dead by Bhagwanpuria gang in Batala in May this year.

The Bhagwanpuria group had also declared on social media: “Do not blame us now if we commit any crime.”
