Police probe missing foodgrain in Patti

Siphoning away of foodgrain (wheat) worth an estimated Rs 11.26 crore has been detected from the godown of Soma Punjab and Warehouse Private Company in Patti.

Sources in Soma company revealed that the irregularity took place between April, 2023 to April, 2024.

The inquiry was conducted by Gulzar Singh, DSP, Economics Offences Wing of the Cyber Crime Branch, and the record was checked on the complaint of Jasbir Singh, Deputy Regional Manager (DRM). As many as 11 officials of the company involved in the crime include Vijay Kumar Solanky, Baljit Singh, Assistant Manager, Varinder Singh, Supervisor, Jobandeep Singh, ground clerk, Prince Joshi, Tarlok Singh, Gurlal Singh, Lovepreet Singh, Manjit Singh, Nishan Singh and Sukhdeep Singh, officials of Soma company said. Company officials said that the accused connived with each other to siphon away foodgrain worth Rs 11.26 crore.

The accused are absconding and the police was conducting raids to arrest the accused.
