Police seize Rs 50 lakh unaccounted cash from car

The Chheharta police have seized unaccounted cash to the tune of over 50 lakh from a car in Ghanupur Kale area.

The police are investigating whether it was part of the drug proceeds or Hawala racket. The car was being chased by a Bolero vehicle, the CCTV cameras revealed. Later, the car got stuck and the occupants fled the spot leaving the car behind. The Bolero vehicle reportedly belonged to a prominent liquor contractor whose employees were chasing the car following the information of smuggling of illicit liquor.

During the chase, the car got stuck in Kale Ghanupura area and two occupants of the car fled the scene. The police reportedly found two bags containing unaccounted cash from the car. The cash was later handed over to the IT officials, said a senior police official wishing not to be named.
