A team of the local Sadar police was attacked in Bhullar village here on Monday night. As a result, Pargat Singh, a Punjab Home Guard jawan, received injuries and his uniform was torn in the scuffle.

The police party led by Sub-Inspector Ravi Shankar had gone to the residence of Tejpreet Singh Teji in connection with a theft case. As soon as Tejpreet Singh Teji got to know about the police raid at his residence, he switched off the lights and started throwing bricks at the police party.

SI Ravi Shankar said besides Tejpreet Singh, his father Kuldeep Singh, his wife Kiranjit Kaur and mother and eight unknown persons were involved in throwing bricks at the police party. A case under Sections 221 and 132 of the BNS has been registered against the accused who absconded under cover of darkness, said SI Ravi Shankar.

The SI said when the police went to the house of the accused today (on Tuesday), they found the house locked. The police have started conducting raids at their possible hideouts to arrest them, he added.
