Amritsar: Probe minor girls’ molestation, SAD MLA Ganieve Kaur Majithia writes to CM

Akali Dal legislator from Majitha Ganieve Kaur Majithia today demanded a high-level independent probe into the alleged molestation of adolescent girls by a schoolteacher of Government Elementary School, Rakh Bhangwan, in her constituency.
The victims had approached the Majithia police station, following which a case was registered on January 3 against the teacher. Even though more than 24 days had passed since the case was registered, the teacher is yet to be arrested.
In a letter to CM Bhagwant Mann, she called for the immediate arrest of the suspect identified as Rakesh Kumar. She resented that the accused was still at large despite registration of an FIR in the case.
She also apprised the CM that no official of the Education Department had visited the school to ascertain the facts of the case and take steps to ensure the safety of girl students.
She added that the CCTV camera in the school complex was not functioning for quite some time and no attempt was made by the school authorities to get it repaired.
