A one-day training-cum-awareness programme on the use of biomass in Thermal Power Plants was organised under the SAMARTH mission at Khehra Farm, Sheron, on Wednesday.
The event was attended by the mission officials along with more than 180 farmers, FPOs, TPP officials, bankers, entrepreneurs and pellet manufacturers.
Dr Indu Maheshwari, NPTI Principal Director, delivered the welcome address and highlighted the objective of the mission and benefits of pellet manufacturing for farmers. Maheshwari added that the mission aims to increase employment opportunities to support energy transition and promote green energy resources.
Dr Tejbir Singh Bhangu, Chief Agriculture Officer, addressed the gathering and highlighted the availability of raw biomass in Tarn Taran. He also motivated the farmers to use biomass in making pellets, besides using it in the thermal power plants. He also thanked the NPTI and mission officials for organising the programme at Tarn Taran.
