Prohibited articles recovered from Goindwal Sahib jail

A team of officials of the Central Jail, Goindwal Sahib, under the supervision of Assistant Superintendent Kuljit Singh, conducted a search in the barracks of different wards of the prison. During checking the team recovered two mobile phones and other prohibited articles on Saturday.
Assistant sub-inspector (ASI) Sukhwinder Singh of Goindwal Sahib Central Jail police station said 76 packets of tobacco and 40 bundles of bidis, a keypad mobile phone and two chargers, which were thrown from outside on the jail premises, were recovered during the search operation.
The ASI said a touchscreen mobile phone was recovered from the possession of one inmate identified as Sandeep Singh, a resident of Jandpeer Mohalla in Tarn Taran. A case under different sections of the Prisons Act was registered in this connection and further probe initiated.
