Projects sanctioned during Congress regime pending: Ex-MLA to Governor
Tarn Taran, August 13
Former Congress MLA from Khemkaran Sukhpal Singh Bhullar has dispatched two letters to the Governor of Punjab on Tuesday demanding that officials be instructed to expedite roadwork in the border area. The former MLA said that during the tenure of the Congress government from 2017-2022, the roadwork was approved by the Union Government from Kasur branch lower/Khemkaran distributary from Jaura village via Mehmudpur (Tehsil Patti) to Mehmudpur village.
He said grant worth Rs 49.32 crore was approved by the Union Government under the scheme and even the tender for the project was allotted to a firm but the project has not started yet. He said that this road will link the border area with the District Administrative Complex near Rasulpur canal road. He said that the roadwork is necessary as the Union Government had sought to project that Punjab was not interested in completing Central projects.
The former Congress MLA also laid stress on the carpeting of bitumen layer on the road for which the stone layer was installed during his party’s tenure. He said these link roads are in Algon Kalan, Maniala Jai Singh, Bhagwanpur and Sidhwan villages in Bhikhiwind block and of Talwandi Budh Singh, Dashmesh Nagar, Mehmudpur and that of Bhandal village in Valtoha block. — OC
