The district police, acting on the orders issued by the competent authorities of the Home Department of the Union Government, has freezed property worth Rs 5 crore of a drug smuggler, resident of Tarn Taran district. Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Abhimanyu Rana informed newsmen here on Friday that the smuggler has been identified as Surjit Singh Seeta, a resident of Dhun Dhai Wala, falling under Chohla Sahib police station. The SSP said that police action was proving to be helpful in controlling the crime and delivering a message to the drug smugglers to avoid their illegal trade and join the mainstream of society.
The SSP said the freezed property includes bungalow of the smuggler, besides his car, agricultural land etc. A notice has been pasted at the gate of the smuggler’s kothi on Friday, said the SSP. He has been booked in five cases of heinous crime at different police stations of Tarn Taran.
