PSCST, Unati Cooperative collaborate to strengthen ‘Rural Milieu Accelerator’

The Punjab State Council for Science & Technology (PSCST), in partnership with the Unati Cooperative Society, organised a stakeholder consultation meet aimed at enhancing the effectiveness of the Rural Milieu Accelerator (RMA).
Hosted at the bioresource processing facility in Talwara, the event highlighted the joint efforts of PSCST and Unati to provide a dedicated platform for start-ups, Self-Help Groups (SHGs), Farmer Producer Organisations (FPOs) and cooperative societies to accelerate their innovations and social enterprises for the upliftment of rural areas.
During the meet, Dr Jatinder Kaur shared how PSCST had taken an innovative approach to mobilise local population through the involvement of Unati, a local coopreative to utilise the local bioresources for socio- economic empowerment of the Kandi area in the state.
She said to further boost rural enterprises in the state, the PSCST had conceptualised the setting up of Rural Milieu Accelerator by expanding the existing facility.
Dr Dapinder Kaur Bakshi, Joint Director at PSCST, and Jyoti Saroop, Managing Director of Unati, elaborated how the RMA would help in boosting rural enterprises through the utilisation of existing industry scale facilities of the Bioresource Processing Facility and its marketing network.
The consultation meet was attended by esteemed personalities, including Dr Manoj Kumar, Vice-Chancellor, DAV University, Jalandhar, Dr Prakash Singh Brar, Director, Extension Education, and Dr RS Sethi, Additional Director, Research, GADVASU.
