PSEB board exams to be held as per schedule: DEO

Despite government teacher body — Democratic Teachers Front —supporting the Bharat Bandh on February 16, the District Education Department has issued instructions that all government teachers on exam duty would be present for the conduct of the PSEB boards.
The call to join Bharat Bandh by government teachers’ bodies had come two days ago. They had also written to the board to reschedule the PSEB Class XII and X exams to be held on February 16.
Rajesh Kumar, DEO (Secondary), said all exams scheduled for the day would be conducted as per the schedule. He said all teachers on exam duty would be present. “We are going as per orders of the Education Department. There has been no change in the schedule of exams or regular classes being held in schools,” he said.
However, leaders of government teachers unions confirmed that computer teachers would be going on day-long mass leave to join the Bharat Bandh protest. They said several government teachers, who were not on exam duty, would also be joining them.
Although, several private schools in the city had announced holiday for February 16, especially for primary wing classes, the DEO said there were no orders to shut schools for the day.
“The holiday has been announced as school transport will be hit due to the bandh call. We have students who come from nearby villages by school buses and vans. To avoid any inconvenience to parents and students, we have decided to close the school for a day,” said a representative of a private school in Attari.
