PSPCL head cashier held for taking Rs 50K bribe
The Vigilance Bureau (VB), Punjab, apprehended a head cashier, posted at Punjab State Power Corporation Ltd (PSPCL) office, Subdivision South, Amritsar, for demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 50,000 here on Monday.
Disclosing this here on Monday, an official spokesperson for the state VB said the accused head cashier, Davinder Singh, has been arrested on a complaint lodged by Narinder Kumar, a resident of Bazar Gujran, Bhagtan Wala, Gate Hakima, Amritsar. The complainant had approached the VB with a complaint that he had given an application for installation of a commercial electrical meter in his shop at Shakti Nagar, Amritsar. The accused had demanded a bribe of Rs 1 lakh for clearing the paper work.
The spokesperson added that after a preliminary inquiry into the complaint, a VB team laid a trap during which the accused was caught red-handed while accepting a bribe of Rs 50,000 from the complainant in the presence of two official witnesses.
