Punjabi singer Diljan dies in road accident

Punjabi singer Diljan (31) died in a road accident at Jandiala Guru around 2 am this morning. The police officials at Jandiala Guru police station stated that he was heading for Amritsar from Kartarpur district Jalandhar in his car.
Yadwinder Singh, SHO Jandiala Guru police station, stated that Diljan was alone in the car and was heading to Amritsar to record a song. He had recently returned from Canada to record a track. When he reached near Jandiala Guru his car collided with some unidentified vehicle parked on the roadside. Police is collecting the footage from nearby CCTV cameras to identify the vehicle.
Sarabjeet Singh, a local resident, said, “We heard some noise and found that the car had overturned after hitting some unidentified vehicle. The car was badly damaged.” The people returning from Holla Mohalla took him out from the car and rushed him to a nearby private hospital with help of the highway patrolling team. The police also reached on the spot. The doctors declared him brought dead at the hospital.
“Diljan’s wife and daughter are in Canada. They are expected to arrive within a few days. We have filed the proceedings under 174 of the CRPC and initiated the investigation,” the SHO said.
The dead body was shifted to a private hospital at Kartarpur. The cremation would be held after the arrival of his wife. Diljan was a runner-up in ‘Sur Kshetra’, a TV reality show, in 2012. He had also participated in ‘Awaaz Punjab Di’ and has released several songs in the past few years.
