Northern Railway’s Ferozepur Division earned about Rs 7.84 crore as fine, including from the Amritsar Railway station, under the special ticket checking campaign, which started in April this year.
The special ticket checking campaign continues with the objective of establishing control by curbing irregular and ticketless travel among passengers. In a total of 1,16,982 cases till July 18, irregular passengers were caught from whom the fine was recovered.
Divisional Railway Manager Sanjay Sahu said apart from providing facilities to the railway passengers, the division is also making them aware to travel with valid tickets. This revenue has been earned through continuous efforts by the ticket checking staff, which will be helpful in improving services.
