Padma Shri awardee Dr Vikramjit Singh Sahney, Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha), celebrated Diwali with flood-affected families in village Chak Aul here, bringing light and warmth to communities that faced devastating floods earlier this year.

Dr Sahney said, “This Diwali, I chose to celebrate not with lights in my own home, but in the homes of Punjab’s flood-affected families — families who lost everything in the recent calamity. Their pain is our pain.”

During the floods, Dr Sahney’s NGO Sun Foundation had provided rehabilitation kits containing essential household items and supported the reconstruction of homes in villages, including Chak Aul, Jattan, Nangal Sohal and Dharamkot.

Renewing his commitment, he revisited these villages this Diwali, distributing gifts and extending heartfelt greetings to the people whose lives were badly affected by the devastating floods.

“Punjab never leaves its own behind,” Dr Sahney said, emphasising the importance of standing together in times of hardship and rebuilding lives with collective strength and compassion.
