Regional centre of JGNDPSOU, Patiala, inaugurated at Khalsa College, Sarhali

The Regional Centre of Jagat Guru Nanak Dev Punjab State Open University (JGNDPSOU), Patiala, was inaugurated at Guru Gobind Singh Khalsa College, Sarhali on Thursday. Dr Rattan Singh, vice-chancellor, was the chief guest. The inauguration was presided over by Baba Sukha Singh, patron of the college.

The chief guest, in his address, expressed the commitment of the university to promote higher education in rural and semi-urban regions. Dr Baljit Singh, Registrar of the university, in his address, said that the university is committed to upholding the teachings of Guru Nanak by spreading the light of knowledge. Baba Sukha Singh, patron of the college managing committee, and members of the managing committee, including Harjinder Singh, honorary secretary, spoke of the progress and the facilities being provided to the students. They expressed their happiness over the establishment of the regional centre, calling it a transformative step for the educational uplift of the area.

College principal Dr Jasbir Singh Gill proposed a vote of thanks and expressed satisfaction over the inauguration as a "new chapter" for the region, bringing opportunities in higher education closer to the youth of Tarn Taran district.
