During the inspection, the MC Commissioner issued clear instructions to the Horticulture Department for immediate removal of weeds and overgrown grass from both sides and the central verge of the GT Road between the Golden Gate and Taran Wala Pul. The Civil Department was directed to remove debris heaps and address other civil maintenance works along these roads. Additionally, Health Department officials were strictly instructed to ensure that no garbage piles are visible on these key roads and that waste is removed daily without delay.

Specific directives were also given regarding unauthorised occupation and encroachments. The MC Commissioner ordered the Estate Officer to take immediate action against sand-laden trolleys outside Chheharta Road, encroachments outside Shera Wala Gate shops, and illegal carts in front of Suraj Chanda cinema near the bus stand.

MC Commissioner Gulpreet Singh Aulakh emphasised that the core objective of these regular checks is to beautify Amritsar city. He stated that his team is working day and night to improve the city’s aesthetics. To streamline road maintenance, the civic body has formed three road gangs comprising 44 employees, who are assigned fixed duties on a rotational roster. These teams are also being equipped with the necessary machinery.
