Amritsar: After the completion of review of the report of a probe into alleged wrongdoing in awarding land acquisition amount for the Delhi-Amritsar-Katra express Highway will be tabled soon, it is anticipated that the report, which was prepared by ADC (General), would bring out the discrepancies, if any, in the process of awarding acquisition amount. At present, the review report, consisting of seven files, was undergoing. Deputy Commissioner Harpreet Singh Sudan had already assured a delegation of farmers that the final report would be out soon and the relevant action would be taken as per the law. TNS

Tarn Taran: A delegation of the coordination committee of the Revenue Patwari Union and the Revenue Kanungo Association presented a memorandum of demands to Deputy Commissioner Monish Kumar to be further submitted to the Punjab Chief Minister on Thursday. They appealed to the state government to fulfil their demands without delay. They warned that in case their demands were not met till June 19, they would go to the Lok Sabha bypoll-bound Sangrur constituency to lodge their protest on June 20. Sukhpreet Singh Pannu, state leader of the union, said besides other demands of patwaris and the Kanungos had been stressing to initiate police and Vigilance Bureau (VB) proceedings only after conducting departmental investigation according to the orders of the Home Department, Punjab. The other demands included the removal of anomalies in the pay scales, filling the vacant posts of patwaris, etc. OC
two-week Dairy training course
Amritsar: The District Dairy Development Department has announced to organise a two-week dairy training course from June 20. Deputy Director, Dairy, Waryam Singh said candidates within the age group of 18 years to 50 years can apply for the course. The candidates should have passed Class five. Singh said on completion of the course the candidates would be eligible for bank financial assistance for setting up a dairy shed from two to 20 animals. The candidates from general category would get a subsidy of 25 per cent on the load. The subsidy amount for scheduled caste candidates is 33 per cent. TNS

Amritsar: Demanding canal irrigation water and purchase of different crops at MSP, the farmers under the banner of SKM staged a protest outside the office of Ajnala SDM here on Thursday. The farmers also submitted a memorandum with the SDM office. Farmer leaders Dr Satnam Singh Ajnala of Jamhoori Kisan Sabha and Jatinder Singh Chinna of Kirti Kisan Union alleged that moong has been purchased at Rs 7,275 per quintal. They claimed that the MSP for moong is Rs 7,775 per quintal but farmers were paid less. They also demanded the government to ensure purchase of other crops at MSP.
