Visitors braved the biting cold winter to throng the Shilp Samagam exhibition over the weekend.
Kim Sharma from Assam, who sells soft toys and garments from her state, found the market in the holy city impressive. Sharma, who made it to the Limca Book of Records in 2015 for being the fastest blindfolded person to knit 110 stitches in one minute, was all praise for the “hard-working” people of Punjab.
Jammu and Kashmir’s Burhaan Ud Din is selling handloom articles, such as shawls, sarees, suits for women, bed covers, cushions and other articles from his state. He found the locals to be receptive to his merchandise.
Subhash Chand from Himachal Pradesh is offering the visitors honey sourced from high-altitude areas in Lahaul.
Panna Lal Soni brought metal-made showpieces from Madhya Pradesh. A state awardee in manufacturing metal artworks, he has been selling them across the country. Based in Madhya Pradesh’s Tikamgarh town, Soni is not new to Punjab. He has also taken part in exhibitions in Patiala, Mani Majra and Chandigarh.
