City residents on Monday woke up to a clear sky after three days of intermittent rain and overcast sky. The sunshine helped people bear the cold and people stepped out of their houses to carry out their different sorts of pending works.

Store owners said customers visited them after a gap of two-three days. Most of the shopkeepers — either they keep woollens, footwear, dry fruit, bakery or other items — did brisk business.

Vijay Seth, a showroom proprietor, selling woolens, said they did not see good sales since the severe cold set in. “Most of the people preferred to stay indoors. Now with a change in weather, they noticed a sharp rise in the number of customers visiting their shops.”
