Tarn Taran: The local CIA staff claimed to have busted a four-member gang, involved in a robbery bid against a jeweller two months ago, by arresting a man with a country made pistol and three live cartridges. Three robbers are still at large and the police were conducting raids to arrest them. The gang attempted to rob a jeweller Gurmeet Singh who in retaliation fired at the robbers and forced them to flee. They even left behind their bike. SSP Ranjit Singh Dhillon said Dilraj Singh Raj of Chhola Sahib, has been arrested, while his accomplices, Gursimran Singh of Bhail Dhai Wala, Harman Singh of Kakka Kandiala and Simar of Tarn Taran, were still at large. He said in another incident, the CIA arrested Amritpal Singh Kalu of Bhullar village with a country made pistol, magazine and two live cartridges. He has been booked under the Arms Act. OC
Drone spotted in Ramdass area
Amritsar: A drone movement was noticed by alert BSF jawans near Kassowal border outpost at the Indo-Pak border in the Ramdass area here last midnight. The BSF fired at the unmanned aerial vehicle which returned back to Pakistan. They also used two illumination bombs to see the drone movement at night, while following its humming sound. It entered around 200 metres inside the Indian territory, but returned following indiscriminate firing by the jawans. In the morning, the BSF and police authorities carried out a search operation in the nearby border villages. Manoj Kumar, SHO, Ramdass police station, confirmed and said that a joint search operation by the BSF and Ramdass police was carried out for around four hours, but nothing was found.
