“The RTI Act was introduced to improve transparency and accountability in government functioning. It is the primary duty of every government official and employee that information sought through an RTI should be provided within the set time limit,” he said.

Advocate Rajiv Madaan and MGSIPA regional project director Dr SP Joshi briefed about the process of filing an RTI and other such details. “The department must provide information sought by an applicant within 30 days of filing the RTI and in case the information cannot be disclosed then the reasons for the same should be given,” said Dr SP Joshi.
