Rural police nab drug peddler with 1.8 kg heroin, motorcycle

The Amritsar police have arrested a drug peddler and recovered 1.8kg of heroin from his possession. He was identified as Manpreet Singh, alias Mannu, of Jathaul village falling under the Gharinda police station here.

The police also seized his bike (PB-02-DB-8403) used for transporting drugs. A case under the NDPS Act was registered against him and further probe was in progress.

Deputy Superintendent of Police, Attari, Lakhwinder Singh said the police got a specific input that Manpreet Singh, alias Mannu, was involved in cross-border drug trafficking using drones. He further used to supply the same in different parts of Punjab. The informer told that he was going from Rorawala Kalan village to Attari alongside the defense drain for handing over a drug consignment to his forward links.

Following information, police teams immediately swung into action and intercepted the accused near the Attari defense drain and during search, seized the contraband. A case under the NDPS Act was registered against him and further probe was on to find out his backward and forward links.

Meanwhile, the Border Security Force recovered a Chinese DJI Mavic 4 Pro drone which was carrying a packet of heroin weighing around 1.16kg. The seizure was made at Roranwala Khurd village located near the Indo-Pak border here.
