Rural police recover hand grenade, 183g heroin linked to gangster Happy Passia
Amritsar rural police have recovered a hand grenade and 183g of heroin following the interrogation of Baljinder Singh, an associate of US-based gangster turned terrorist Happy Passia. The grenade was safely neutralised by the bomb disposal squad.
Earlier, the police had recovered a Glock pistol and 523g of heroin based on the disclosure of Baljinder’s co-accused, Palwinder Singh alias Pala. Palwinder had attempted to fire at the police and sustained injuries in retaliatory action.
“With this, the total seizure in the case includes one hand grenade, 606g of heroin, and two pistols with magazines and live cartridges,” said Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav in a post on X.
He said, as per initial probe, both accused were in direct contact with Happy and were acting under his directions. Passia, who was reportedly arrested by US agencies on the same day, had recently returned from Armenia and was planning targeted attacks in Punjab.
