On the occasion of 75th Republic Day, Cabinet Minister, Punjab, Aman Arora remembered the sacrifices of martyrs, the armed forces and individuals, who contributed to the nation building. Addressing the Republic Day function held in district, he remembered the sacrifice of Shaheed Udham Singh and the contribution made by freedom fighters, not forgetting the valuable contribution of Dr Bhim Rao Ambedkar, the architect of the Indian Constitution. He said it was due to his valuable contribution that the Republic of India was established and we got the honour of being the largest democracy in the world.

“Our government is devoted to martyrs. The present government started works for the welfare of the state with the swearing of Shaheed-e-Azam Sardar Bhagat Singh from the holy land of Khatkar Kalan village. Our government is committed to ensuring welfare of Army jawans, families of martyrs and ex-servicemen. The government has increased ex gratia amount from Rs 50 lakh to Rs 1 crore for the heirs of martyred jawans. Agniveers have also been included under this financial assistance scheme,” he said in his address.

“Similarly, the financial assistance of ex-servicemen/war widows above 65 years of age who participated in World War I and II, who were sent home without any pension benefit has been increased to Rs 10,000 per month,” he added.

Addressing the residents of the district, he said the AAP-led state government has provided 39,406 government jobs to youth and appointed 12,710 employees during its tenure of 22 months.

He further elaborated on the welfare schemes and polices the government has introduced. “Forty-three citizen-centric services are being provided to people under the ‘Bhagwant Maan Sarkar, Apahe Duar’ scheme. To deal with the problem of stubble burning in the state, PEDA has started four compressed biogas projects with a total capacity of 85.23 tonnes per day, in which 3 lakh tons of paddy straw will be used annually. Apart from these, seven more compressed biogas projects of 79.25 tonnes per day are likely to be commissioned by March, 2025, which will consume 2.60 lakh tonnes of paddy straw annually.”

He said the government has given the green signal to Ferishte scheme to reduce the number of precious lives lost during road accidents and to provide timely treatment to the injured. He said for the purpose of giving further boost to investment and tourism in the state, the Punjab Government organised progressive investors and tourism summits, due to which 4,125 investment proposals have been received in the state and will create about 3 lakh 14 thousand 572 direct and indirect employment opportunities in the state.

Not forgetting to mention the Centre’s rejection of Punjab’s tableau, Arora said these tableaux are being shown across the state.

Later, he also honoured various individuals from the district, recognizing their contribution in various fields.
