Former SAD MLA Ravinder Singh Brahmpura, addressing a public gathering in Chohla Sahib on Friday in support of Block Samiti SAD candidate Prof Paramjit Kaur, sharply criticised the AAP Government for allegedly protecting convicted MLA Manjinder Singh Lalpura, who has been awarded four years’ imprisonment.

He stated that it was shocking that the entire AAP leadership was shielding a person convicted by the court. He emphasised that since the Punjab Legislative Assembly itself has recognised that the individual is no longer an MLA, there is no justification for him to retain government facilities.

Brahmpura demanded that the Punjab Legislative Assembly immediately vacate Flat No. 38, Sector 4, Chandigarh, currently occupied by the convicted former MLA from Khadoor Sahib. He further demanded that the Estate Officer recover the fine payable under the MLAs’ Rule Book. Taking a jibe, he alleged that the MLA was deliberately using a health pretext to remain in a hospital rather than face the law and go to jail, calling it a mockery of democracy. He asserted that the convicted MLA should be treated in jail, not a hospital.

Brahmpura appealed to voters to ensure the victory of the educated candidate, Prof Paramjit Kaur, to give a befitting reply to the present government.
