SBI Customer Service Centre robbery case cracked by Amritsar police, 3 held

With the arrest of three persons, the city police claims to have cracked the SBI Customer Service Centre robbery case reported on January 6. The police recovered a country-made pistol, two bullets and a sharp weapon from the possession of the suspects.
Those arrested were identified as Jobanpreet Singh of Jons village in Ajnala, Gurdas Singh of Guru Ki Wadali and Dharminder Singh, aka Kankata, of New Preet Nagar.
Prabhjot Singh Virk, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (ADCP), said three unidentified robbers looted an SBI Customer Service Centre located on the Batala road in broad daylight on January 6.
According to the victim, Prem Kumar who runs the centre, the suspects decamped with Rs 80,000 cash, his purse and mobile phone. The victim told the police that he had opened the SBI Customer Service Centre where transactions upto Rs 10,000 could be made. The victim said he was alone when the suspects entered the centre. Immediately after entering the centre, the suspects pointed a pistol and sharp weapon at him and threatened to kill him if he did not hand over cash.
Virk said Jobanpreet already had a robbery case registered against him. He said the suspects were produced in a court and brought on police remand for further investigation.
