Buses and vans of most of private schools parked on footpaths and roads are causing traffic jams, resulting in inconvenience to commuters. There are some schools where parking space is available on the premises, but school managements do not allow the drivers to park their vehicles inside.

Some of the schools have roads for boarding and dropping the students, but managements do not use them. There are some schools where there is no space to park the vehicles of teachers and students and they park their vehicles on roads outside the school premises. Some prominent schools, where over hundred buses and vans transport students, do not provide any space for the parking of school buses.

Buses and vans of Sacred Heart School, Majitha Road, can be seen parked on the footpath.

Commuters on Majitha Road face regular traffic jams during morning and afternoon hours when the school opens and after it closes. Similarly, students of Spring Dale School, based on the Fatehgarh Churian road, park their vehicles by the roadside. DAV Public School on Lawrence Road is situated on a narrow lane, which is also occupied by school buses.

Residents have asked the traffic police to intervene in the matter and ask school managements to make parking arrangements or find some other solution. Ajay Arora, a resident, posted on his social media platform, “Worst traffic situation everyday outside Spring Dale School. We witness long traffic jams due to movement of buses and other vehicles for school. The authorities or traffic police must look into this, especially in summer and in the rainy season.”
