School notes: Basketball tournament held

Amritsar: Students of Sri Guru Harkrishan Senior Secondary Public School, Chabhal, participated in the District Level School Tournament 2024-2025 in Basketball. The tournament was held at School of Eminence, Patti, on August 8 to 9. The boys (U-17) team won the gold medal. Five U-17 and two U-14 boys have been selected for the state tournament. The school management and principal congratulated the students and encouraged them to work hard and perform better in sports.

Student to take part in I-Day Parade

Gurpreet Kaur, a student of IK Gujral Punjab Technical University (IKGPTU), Amritsar Campus, has been selected as special guest to participate in prestigious IDC-2024 on Independence Day which will be held in New Delhi on August 15. Kaur is an NSS volunteer and pursuing B.Tech (Computer Science) in the university. The student got this opportunity based on her services as a NSS volunteer. The student will be a part of the world-famous Independence Day parade.

Revel Dale shines in Volleyball

Students of Revel Dale Public School have once again outshone all other teams in the Regional Level Volleyball Tournament. They teamed up with the students of Holy Heart Presidency School and got the 1st position in U-19 and U-14 categories. They got second position in U-17 category. Teams of all the states of Northern Region participated in the Regional-Level Volleyball Tournament was organised under the aegis of the CISCE. “All the players played as per their strengths. Their game was attacking when attack was required and it was defensive when defence was required,” said Principal Rajiv Arora. The tournament was held in Dasuya in Hoshiarpur.

Orientation Workshop organised

The PG Department of Zoology, Khalsa College, in collaboration with the Punjab State Council for Science and Technology, Chandigarh, organized a one-day cluster-level orientation workshop for eco-club coordinators. The workshop was organised under ‘Environment Education Programme’ supported by the Ministry of Environment Forests and Climate Change to create awareness among school teachers about the various activities under the Environment Education Programme which is aligned with mission LiFE for making the environment clean and green. About 150 teachers from various government schools of five districts, including Amritsar, Tarn Taran, Gurdaspur, Pathankot and Hoshiarpur, participated in this workshop, said Principal Dr Mehal Singh. Dr KS Bath, Joint Director, PSCST, Chandigarh, discussed the overview of the environment education programme. He said a total 6,000 eco-clubs from schools and 300 from colleges in Punjab were registered at the environment education programme portal. He declared the Tarn Taran district as best performer in the cluster during the session 23-24. A certificate of excellence was awarded to the District Co-ordinator. Dr Mandakini from PSCST, Chandigarh, conducted a brainstorming session on Registration process and uploading of activities of Eco-Clubs on EEP portal.

CBSE ECONOMICS WORKSHOP

The Senior Study II hosted a CBSE economics workshop on August 9-10. Resource persons Kirandeep Kaur Kharbanda and Manpreet Kaur conducted the workshop. Around 50 economics teachers from the district attended this workshop to help them align their teaching practices with the latest CBSE curriculum requirements. Principal Upasana Mehra extended a warm welcome to everyone. The resource persons held various interactive sessions and group activities to ensure a comprehensive and enriching experience for each and every participant. The workshop also provided a platform for extensive discussions, learning and growth of the teachers present there.

Teej celebration

Teej was celebrated at The Noble School. Kindergarten children participated in this festival with great enthusiasm. Little children came in colourful costumes and presented a colourful programme. Children participated in many activities like bhangra, giddha and modelling. Swings were also arranged on this festival in which the children enjoyed a lot. Various types of sweets were distributed. Chairman of the school Professor CL Kochher , Managing Director Kumar Shiv Kochher, Vice Principal Ravinder Kaur and a large number of kindergarten staff were present. Chairman told the children about the importance of Teej.

International Youth Day

Guru Amar Dass Public School, Model Town, celebrated ‘International Youth Day’. A special assembly was conducted to celebrate the same. The assembly began by taking the blessings of the Almighty. Students recited motivational poems, gave speeches and presented a group song. A poster making competition was held for the students of grade 6-12. in the first category,Kuljit Kaur of grade 8 stood first, Gunvansh from grade 10 stood second and Dolci stood third. In the second category Nirjara and Kamran from grade 11 stood first, Manseerat and Simranjeet stood second and Amanpreet from grade 12 stood third.

CBSE WORKSHOP organised

A two-day Competency-Based Assessment Workshop by CBSE was organised at MGN Public School, Adarsh Nagar. The workshop was conducted by educationists — Meenu Dhingra, from Apeejay School, and Sunil Kumar, from Gobindgarh Public School. Principal KS Randhawa emphasised the need of attending CBSE workshops to make the educators acquaint with the changing trends in the field of education to make the teaching learning process a success. Academic Coordinator and Headmistress Sangeeta Bhatia, Incharge Pre Primary Sukham, Coordinator CBSE Inderpreet Kaur and Coordinator Secondary Section Satwinder made the workshop more enriching and inspiring with their commendable inputs.
