In a seminar organised at the local Majha College for Women on Wednesday, the local district chapter of the Inner Wheel Club celebrated ‘Dhiyan Di Lohri’ and motivated young girls for vaccination against cervical cancer. Dr Monika Gupta, president of the club, said that the universal cervical cancer vaccination of girls from age 9 to 15 years is the need of the hour. She explained in detail about the causes, signs and symptoms of cervical cancer.
Dr Sukhbir Kaur, District Health Officer, Tarn Taran, talked about menstrual hygiene and its importance in protection from cervical cancer. The girls clarified their queries about the cervical cancer and the various myths surrounding its vaccine.
