Seven illegal buildings razed, two sealed in Amritsar

The Town Planning wing of the Municipal Corporation partially demolished seven illegally constructed buildings, while two were sealed for violating building bylaws. Acting on the directions of Municipal Commissioner Gulpreet Singh Aulakh, the Town Planning wing staff led by MTP Mehrban Singh took stringent action against unauthorised constructions in various areas of the city.

Under the supervision of ATP Parminderjeet Singh, Building Inspectors Manish Arora and Nitin Dhir, along with demolition staff and the Municipal Corporation’s police force, partially demolished the buildings. ATP Parminderjeet Singh stated that an unauthorised construction in a colony near Queen’s Road, opposite Alexandra School, was demolished. Additionally, two illegally built structures on Queen’s Road were also demolished.

Similarly, in the Central Zone, three unauthorised buildings in Katra Ahluwalia, Ram Gali and Kucha Kalyan Das were demolished, while two others were sealed.

In the south zone, another team led by ATP Wazir Raj, along with Building Inspector Rajrani, demolition staff and the municipal police, took action against two buildings in the Walled City area near Chhatewala Akhara. These structures were being constructed without the approval of building plan and subsequently demolished.

MTP Mehrban Singh stated that municipal authorities are committed to put a curb on illegal constructions and warned property owners against unauthorised developments. Further inspections and strict action will continue to ensure adherence to building regulations, he said.
