The leakage in one of the sewer lines on the local Shani Mandir Road that has been continuing for over three months is not only causing inconvenience to the residents of Sunrise Enclave and shopkeepers in the area but also turning into a health hazard and has damaged the main road as well with deep pits forming in it.

According to the shopkeepers and residents, their repeated request to the administration in this regard has fallen on deaf ears. Local residents and traders said here on Sunday that the choking of sewerage has made their life miserable besides polluting the environment.

They informed that the damaged road was causing accidents frequently too. Because of the location of Shani Mandir, the road assumes importance as a large number of devotees come to pay obeisance.

However, when contacted, Kamaljit Singh, Executive Officer of the local Municipal Council, did not respond to calls on his mobile phone. Arwinderpal Singh, SDM-cum-Administrator of the Municipal Council, said that he has not received any complaint and also denied that the road was damaged. He described the report as incorrect and said he would speak to the Executive Officer of the Municipal Council in this regard.
