The Shiromani Gurdwara Prabandhak Committee (SGPC) on Sunday organised a bhog of akhand path held to pay tributes to the victims of 1984 anti-Sikh riots on its anniversary. It also held a Gurmat programme to mark the birth anniversary of Bhagat Namdev.
In remembrance of the riot victims, the SGPC organised a religious congregation at Gurdwara Shaheed Baba Gurbakhsh Singh, located within the Golden Temple complex.
A Hazuri Ragi Jatha of the Harmandar Sahib rendered kirtan of Gurbani hymns, after the Ardas (Sikh prayer), the holy Hukamnama was recited out to the congregation by Granthi Giani Parwinderpal Singh.

Paying homage to the victims, the Granthi described the riots as genocide and a grave attack on the Sikh community. In a separate event, the SGPC celebrated the birth anniversary of Bhagat Namdev by holding a Gurmat programme at Gurdwara Manji Sahib Diwan Hall.
